Welcome to a classic midweek trap game, as in-form Chelsea, coming off of our best game of the season, go to Southampton to play the league’s worst team.
Normally, a midweek match would mean mass rotation, but in this case, given the magnitude of the game, Enzo Maresca goes for a more measured approach. We do get a Premier League debut for goalkeeper Filip Jörgensen (and he gets a couple of his usual defenders in front of him), while Christopher Nkunku gets a Premier League start as well. And we get another chance for the Palmer-Félix double act.
