Jalen Hurts’ broken finger looks super painful Emergency USA

Eagles’ QB Jalen Hurts returned to practice this week after clearing concussion protocol, and him being able to play on Sunday against the Packers was the most notable part about it. But, while Hurts is able to return to the field, it’s been a little overlooked that he’s still dealing with a broken finger on his non-throwing hand.

When the broken finger was first revealed, Hurts admitted that it was “shattered,” and after his press conference on Friday, we got a chance to see just how shattered it was.

In his first media availability in nearly three weeks, the quarterback took his seat on stage without wearing a splint or glove on his left hand. After re-watching the video, his broken finger was on full display as he took a sip of water before answering questions.

It’s hard to capture, but the finger tip to the first knuckle is various shades of black and blue. (If you want to see for yourself, here’s the video, from 0:05-0:20.) I hadn’t considered where on his finger was broken, but it certainly makes sense now that Hurts said it affected how he played — specifically related to the turnover early against the Steelers.

The QB at least had some time the past few weeks to let his finger heal, in addition to recovering from the concussion, and hopefully found some systems that will allow him to play as close to normal as possible with a finger that looks anything but.
