Zoe Saldaña has a lot to celebrate tonight at the 2025 Golden Globes.

The actress won her first ever Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role as Rita Mora Castro in Jacques Audiard’s avant-garde film Emilia Pérez, which became one of last year’s most talked about films after its initial premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

Saldaña was visibly moved once her name was called and gave a passionate speech that recognized not only her family, loved ones, and the entire cast and crew of Emilia Pérez but also how tonight served as a cumulation of her over two decades as a working actress in Hollywood. For the big night, Saldaña wore a chocolate-brown sequined gown and coordinating flowing cape from Saint Laurent, with her hair in an elegant slicked-back bun. Emilia Pérez is also the first full project under Saint Laurent Productions—a registered subsidiary of the fashion house—who who co-produced the film and now counts filmmaking under it’s creative offerings.

“I don’t have much time, and I have dyslexia, so I tend to forget when I’m really anxious and I’m filled with adrenaline, but my heart is full of gratitude,” the actress began her speech. “Thank you so much to the Golden Globes for celebrating our film and honoring the women of Emilia Pérez. This is the first time for me, and I’m just so blessed that I’m sharing this moment with Selena and Karla and Jacque and all of my fellow nominees. I’m in awe of you, your strength, your complexity, and your undeniable talent.”

She continued, “I know that it’s a competition, but all that I have witnessed is just us showing up for each other and celebrating each other, and it’s just so beautiful.”

Saldaña shouted out her fellow nominees for Best Supporting Actress, which was a particularly stacked category this time around. She also gave a heartfelt dedication to the film’s star, Karla Sofía Gascón.

“Selena [Gomez], Ariana [Grande], Margaret [Qualley], Felicity [Jones], Isabella [Rosellini]—you’re all magic. I’m also sharing it with you, Karla. No one other than you could have played Emilia Perez.”
