New York Jets vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Game Inactives Emergency USA

The Jets, on their second Florida road trip in a week, take on the Jaguars at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville this afternoon.

The big question for the Jets is if they can demonstrate they are the better team in this matchup of 3-10 outfits that both have lost close games all season. The Jets have lost nine of their last 10 games and have dropped seven of their last eight decided by eight points or fewer. The Jaguars, who ended a five-game losing streak with a 10-6 win at Tennessee last week, are 2-7 this season in one-score losses.

Offensively, it will be interesting for Jets fans to see if Aaron Rodgers and the Jets can build on their decent outing last week at Miami. Although they lost to the Dolphins, 32-26 in overtime, Rodgers threw for his first 300-yard game since 2021 and the Jets cleared 400 yards for just the second time this season.

Rodgers will again get to distribute the ball to WRs Garrett Wilson, Davante Adams and Allen Lazard while the offense will try to pick up steam on the ground. RB Breece Hall returns to action, perhaps on a limited basis due to his knee injury, to work with rookie backs Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, who were precociously productive in last week’s game. And the Jets could get a jumpstart against the Jaguars’ defense, ranked last in the NFL in total yards/game, total yards/play and net passing yards/play.

And with a mere 123 receiving yards this season and possibly even Sunday, Wilson, already one of seven WRs in NFL history with 80-plus receptions in his first three seasons, will become one of five pro wideouts to reach 80 catches and 1,000 yards in his first three seasons. He’ll also become the first Jets WR to get to three 1,000-yard seasons in a row in 56 seasons, or since George Sauer turned that trifecta in 1966-68.
