The Mavericks have battled through a challenging early-season schedule and come out of that stretch with three straight wins going into Friday’s contest in Denver. Dallas lost four games in a row, all decided by three points or less, before rebounding with victories over San Antonio (110-93), Oklahoma City (121-119) and New Orleans (132-91). Last time out, superstar Luke Doncic returned from a knee injury to score a game-high 26 points in the win over the Pelicans.
Friday’s matchup is the second in less than two weeks for these teams, who also met in last season’s Western Conference finals. After falling to Dallas in the playoffs, Denver scored the first win of the season (122-120) behind Jokic’s massive 37-18-15 triple-double. The Nuggets were victorious their last time out over the Memphis Grizzlies (122-110) in a matchup that featured a 12-10-14 triple-double from Russell Westbrook off the bench.
