KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said he isn’t worried about talk surrounding his slow start on the field this season.
Kelce’s teammates aren’t concerned either.
The Kansas City Chiefs wide receivers wore special Travis Kelce t-shirts during pregame warmups at SoFi Stadium near Los Angeles Sunday.
Tracy Wolfson, of CBS Sports, reported Rashee Rice came up with the idea. According to Wolfson, Rice said the matching shirts were to “honor their leader and a guy who has mentored all of them.”
“You build this brotherhood. I think they had heard all of the outside noise. They know how much of a leader Travis is. It was cool to see them show their support and then for him to go out there and be Travis because that’s who he is,” quarterback Patrick Mahomes said after the game.

Kelce’s first two catches in the game moved him into the all-time franchise lead for receptions.
Kelce entered Sunday one reception behind legendary Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez for most receptions in Chiefs history. A slow statistical start to Kelce’s 12th season of his career saw the 34-year-old register just eight catches for 69 receiving yards during Kansas City’s first three games of the 2024 season.
In the second quarter Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers, Kelce caught his second pass of the afternoon, his 917th of his career, to claim the franchise’s all-time record. The catch gained 5 yards.

Kelce was already the franchise’s all-time leader in receiving yards, with more than 11,300 total for his career. That total yardage for the Cleveland Heights, Ohio, native is more than 1,300 yards more than Gonzalez, who is next-closest to him on the Chiefs all-time receiving yardage leaderboard as well.
